Work Experience (5N1356)
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skills and competence to participate in the workplace (for a limited time), carrying out work related tasks independently while under general direction. The key areas in delivering this module are: 1.Planning and Preparation 2. Work Placement Experience 3. Critical Evaluation and Reflection The ethos of the module is to prepare the participants for their worplacement. In doing so they create a personal folder which includes updated cv, skills audit, work placement goals etc. The planning and preparation includes the participants having an understanding of the legal rights of both the employer and employee. This is supported by demonstrating and practising effective work place communication skills. The work placement experience is the crucial part of the learning outcomes and ensuring effectiveness the participants will compile a detailed diary. To develop the diary efficiently in class, activities will be undertaken. The workplace diary is then used as a reflective and evaluation tool and practical exercises on evaluation and reflection wil be an integral part of the module delivery. This part-time, single module programme, successful completition of which leads to QQI Level 5 component 5N1356 and can be used as a component in QQI level 5 Major Award - Healthcare Support 5M4339.
